Hi Roy, nearest I can see is this, bearing in mind there may be parts of Bedwellty missing in 1861. The 1871 census for this family doesn't show an Edwin.

Blackwood, Bedwellty RG9/4006 folio 38 pg13
James Harries head mar 35 bread baker b. Somerset, Bath
Sarah wife 39 b. Chepstow
Frances dau 14 b. Blackwood
Edwin son 8 b. Blackwood
William son 5 b. Newport
Sarah dau 3 b. Blackwood
Adelaide dau 7 months b. Blackwood

Hello Osprey
I have trawled through the whole of the 1871 for Brithdir Hamlet and I can not see him, checked the 1881 and can't find him.  I wonder if its worth looking for him on the 1851 (aged about 9 yrs) with the hope of finding him with parents? clutching at straws here, not sure if its going to help.

Regards, Roy

possible from 1851? There is another Edwin in Mon, but born Abergavenny & he ends up in London as a carpenter. This is the only other Edwin I can see of around the right age and birthplace.

Colliers Row, Tredegar HO107/2448 folio 238 pgs 9-10
William Haries head mar 39 collier b. Somersetshire
Siscelia wife 40 b. Glamorganshire
William son 18 b. Tredegar
Anne dau 12 b. Tredegar
Edwin son 9 b. Tredegar
Elizabeth dau 7 b. Tredegar
Catherine dau 3? b. Tredegar

not sure about this change of occupation or place of birth, but possible from 1871
6 Wain Row, Manmoel, Victoria RG10/5326 folio 58 pg 2
Edwin Harries head mar 28 moulder
Elizabeth wife 26
Henrietta dau 3
William son 4 months
all born Blaina

can't see this family in 1881

Hi osprey
Thanks for the details; the 1851 looks good and the 1871 is a good possibility.  Victoria was an area of terraced houses built by the Ebbw Vale Iron Company for its workers; either in the iron works itself or their coal mine and a route many of Brithdir people followed.

regards, Roy
