Writing on an old school trophy
« on: Wednesday 17 April 13 14:01 BST (UK) »
I know how great you guys are at what you do, and you've restored some of my precious, yet battered old family photos.....But i might be asking a bit much of you this time!!!...I was wondering if there was any possible way that the writing on the shield in front of these four young ladies could be read!!!!....It's a school photo taken in 1915, and i think it says 'Challenge Trophy' across the top!!!!...

I can see "Challenge Shield" and "Presented By".
Can't make out the rest!

The girl on the far right has GK badge on her gymslip, does this have significance?

Hi

I'm not convinced it says challenge.  To me it looks like

CHALLEN ST SHIELD
PRESENTED BY
V?
JULY 191?

Hi:

I'm not sure about SHIELD because it only looks like 5 letters instead of 6,

Wondering about the top piece starting with PEMD.....

And could the sport be grass hockey?

Although I suppose it doesn't have to be for a sport - they could be a debate team.
