England Death record look up for James HOWCROFT

Please can anyone help me find the death record for my ancestor James HOWCROFT.

Story about James:-

1. James were born in 1851 in DARWEN, LANCASHIRE.

2. James married Jane SIMM (nee WOOD) on the 23rd Aug 1875 in Bolton.

3. In 1881, they were living at 3 Lower Fold in DARWEN and in the house were:
James HOWCROFT (Head)
Jane HOWCROFT (Wife)
Betsy SIMM (step-daughter)
Elizabeth Ann SIMM (step-daughter)
John William HOWCROFT (son) - born 1876.

4. James and Jane had another son in 1882 called Abraham HOWCROFT

5. In 1891, The family were living in 208 Cog Lane, BURNLEY. The family at the time were:
Jane HOWCROFT (Head) - WIDOW
Betsy HOLT (daughter) - MARRIED
Elizabeth Ann SIMM (daughter)
John William HOWCROFT (son)
Abraham HOWCROFT (son)
Ellen OWEN (grandaughter)
John WILDMAN (boarder).

Conclusion: - James died between 1883-1891, we think he died in DARWEN but we can't find any records of his death, if anyone can find anything then that would be a great help.

If you cant find a death record it is always possible that he was not deceased but left his wife and children, often when that is the case, the wife would go down on the census as a widow.

Something to keep in mind I think as all deaths had to  be registered.

Have you tried searching for him on later census's ?

You don't say when Jane Simm/Wood was born, you could search for a remarriage depending on her age
