Scottish borderers
« on: Thursday 18 April 13 20:01 BST (UK) »
Hello

Would KOSB stand for Kings Own Scottish Borderers? I'm reading an article about a David Dakers that was injured in 1916 while serving in the KOSB. It said in March 1915 he was also injured. Any idea where I could find out more as to where he might have been serving on these dates?

Hi Jim,

KOSB is as you thought the Kings Own Scottish Borderers. Had a look in Ancestry, and he was in the British Expeditionary Forces in France from 5/12/1914 to 15/8 1916, he was wounded on 31/7/1916, plus he had a GSW( General Surface Wound?) in March 2015 also.

Thank you both
It also says in the article that he previously served in the Boer War
I know he was born in Forfar.

Hi Jim,

I think he re-enlisted aged 40yrs 24 days, was previously a Private in the KOSB for 14 years approx, and he did 4 years in WW1.
