Unknown Location
« on: Friday 19 April 13 21:43 BST (UK) »
Hi I have attached a partial document showing a location in the district of Clara. It is listed on the bottom line of the document as " Clash--------??? dated 1895. I have tried to decipher the name to no avail and am hoping that someone may have heard of this location.
I would be greatful for any help.
Thanks, Tom

There are several mentions by newspapers of that era to Clashawaun, close to the town of Clara, referring to a sack / sacking factory owned by Messrs. Goodbody.  A large fire in the 1890s did considerable damage.

My guess is that Clashawaun is what your document is referring to.

Here's Clashawaun works on the c1890 OSI map - just southwest of the town of Clara.

see : Clashawaun works

It's located in the townland of Erry (Armstrong)*, which consists of about 832 acres, and is in    Kilbride civil pasrish and Tullamore Poor Law Union & Registration district. *There's a separate townland in the same parish and immediately south east named Erry (Maryborough).
Remember to check the Resource boards :  Ireland, Dublin, Antrim & Cork (and stickies at the top of other county sub-forums)
