When and where did they marry?   That might help pin them down.

Hi Trish
I know of that one at 113 Athol st Liverpool.

Someone has said there is a John b 1839 (this is the correct year) in Cornwall in 1861.
I read that a lot of the Cornwall census had be transcribed so I was hoping an informed person might find him because I haven't yet.... On his 1860 marriage cert he is a mariner.

Hi,

If John was a mariner he could be away for the 1861. Do you have details of his wife which could help to pinpoint the family?

Hi JJen
Her name was Susan Donnelly. Born about 1836/1838 Ireland. Died in Blackburn 1917 aged 78. I haven't found her on any census before 1911.

Someone mentioned the ship Asia at Plymouth during one discussion I had. And that she may have had a baby whilst the ship was docked there. I don't know enough about ANYTHING marine. But the 2/24 reg was mentioned I think.

I have no proof that he is Scottish nor Irish only the spelling of his name is consistently Macauley.
