Everyone is dittoed Single, is pob Glasgow, Lanarkshire?

Having looked at the image I think it should have been transcribed as Lanarkshire.

Johns father John was deceased at his marriage. Perhaps he didn't know whether he was born in Liverpool or Scotland....?

My Macauley's have proven to be somewhat troublesome to track.

Do you know whether there are things other than census records that I might find a mariner in?
I just noticed a navy list here in the military board I might go sticky beak there.

Were there any witnesses on his marriage certificate that could help to identify him?

Grasping at straws here;
Susan Mc Cawley, Mar ?, born c 1838 Ireland, Inmate in Liverpool Workhouse.

That could be possible as I think their son John turned up in a workhouse.
Would their not have been a pension for mariners if they serves in war?

I've just found another John Macauley in 1841 born Liverpool 1806. Looks like a mother Charlotte Macauley born 1778 too.

I think I have to stick with Liverpool.
