From the Monday, 28 Sep 1925 edition of the Winnipeg Free Press (first paragraph only):
An exceedingly pretty autumn house wedding took place at 2:15 Saturday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Thomas Alexander when their only daughter, Beatrice Marion, became the bride of Mr. John Leslie Sugden. The spacious hallway and reception rooms were adorned with fall flowers and ferns. The ceremony took place in the reception room where the fireplace was banked with graceful ferns, palms and flame gladioli. Miss Eileen Motley played appropriate music during the assembling of the guests and prefaced and concluded the ceremony with the bridal marches. Miss Phyllis Wilson sang Schumann's "Dedication" during the signing of the register.

William Thomas Alexander, 68, one time president of the Great West Permanent Loan company, died in Winnipeg General hospital Tuesday. Born in Ontario, he came to Manitoba a little over 40 years ago and took up farming in Stonewall district. Then he came to the city and entered the financial life of the community. For 15 years he also interested himself in the real estate business, turning his attention principally to farm lands. His wife pre-deceased him several years ago. At one time he was president of the Great West Permanent Loan company, the Imperial Canadian Trust company and the Canadian National Fire Insurance company. The Great West Permanent Loan company and the Imperial Canadian Trust company, of which companies W. T. Alexander was resident, went into liquidation in the fall of 1927, with the National Trust company as liquidator. Following this, charges were laid against both W. T. Alexander and his brother. F. H. Alexander, on a general charge that they conspired to defraud the companies. Trial followed and both were found guilty and sentenced to the penitentiary. The funeral service will be held at Thomson's funeral home at 2 o'clock Wednesday and the burial will take place at Stonewall at 11 o'clock Thursday morning. For the past 10 years Mr. Alexander has resided at the Marlborough hotel.
