my friend is reading this post

have u got any advice to help her like what she needs to do to get certifcate

Certificates can be ordered online from The General Register Office  http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/  using the details you had from FreeBMD ( though 'do' click on the little glasses icon next to the Free BMD Entry first and check the scan it was typed from, to make sure that the page and volume numbers are correct) cost is £9.25 and it takes about a week or so to arrive.

Or you could contact Durham Registrars  http://www.durham.gov.uk/Pages/Service.aspx?ServiceId=8484  and  buy the certificate from them, but they charge £11

Do bear in mind that 'sometimes' the people getting married didn't know their father's name. Its not 100% certain that a marriage cert will have a father's name though they usually do.

There was a death registered in Durham Central District for a Lawrence Heaton, aged approx 74, in Q4 1964.

There is also an entry in the Probate Calendar for him which gives the following detail:
Heaton Lawrence of 1 Railway Cottages Shincliffe Village county Durham died 2 October 1964 at Shincliffe Village. Administration Durham 15 July 1965 to Dennis Heaton of no occupation £156.

If any of that rings any bells with your friend or her father then there is a birth registered Q2 1890 for a 'Laurence' Heaton in Helmsley District which looks promising.

Boo

Dennis is his youngest son

Hi

I am Lawrence and Frances Heaton's grand-daughter. My mother was Margaret Mary Heaton.
I can give you some more family history if you want it.
