15 Millbrae Crescent, Clydebank - was this a hospice?
« on: Tuesday 23 April 13 17:19 BST (UK) »
Hi, I have found several deaths (in 1950's and 1960's) at 15 Millbrae Crescent, Clydebank for folk who were not Clydebank residents but lived elsewhere in Glasgow. Was this a hospice of some sort?
Thanks PWN

The building is listed www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/sc-32276-hawick-streeet-valve-house- (alternative address is Hawick Streeet, Valve House, Clydebank) but can't figure out so far its use.

Hi there

Regarding the above it was a hospice where people went before St Margaret's Hospice was built.  The reason I know this is because my aunt was in it.  I dont know when they  moved to their new premises.

Regards

Winniep :)

Thanks, Winniep. Since 1950/60's wasn't so long ago I hoped that someone would remember it. It would appear that it may have been the forerunner of St Margaret's Hospice which I know is close by. Again many thanks for your help and to Monica also.

Thank you so much, Loobylooayr. The link to the history of the Hospice is most helpful and answers all my questions.
