What ever happened to Francis?
« on: Sunday 28 April 13 15:40 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone,

I think I'm going to need to enlist the help of some super-sleuths here. I am trying to look for a Francis Hosier Hart who was born in 1835 in Bethnal Green, London. On the 4th November 1861 he marries Louisa Ann Lewis, the daughter of Daniel Lewis (a coal merchant) in St Alphege church, Greenwich, Kent.

After 1861, I can't seem to find reference to Francis or Louisa. Unless I'm going blind or haven't set my search parameter right.

An assistance is much appreciated  :) :)

Anthony

Hi Anthony

There is a probate entry for a death of Francis Hosier Hart on 28 April 1890 in Lee, Kent not too far from Greenwich.

The executors don't help unfortunately as it doesnt name a wife - his executors are John Frederick Bloxham and Henry Charles Mott if those mean anything to you.  Might suggest Louisa has gone before.

Do you know what Francis did for a living?  he is named as a Gentleman on this probate entry.

scrap that - the correspoonding BMD is that this one is too old for your Francis

Hi

Just posting links to your previous threads so that people can see what ground has been covered before:

Have you investigated naval records for Francis, in case he was the F H Hart (26 b London Middlesex) who was a stoker on the Royal Naval vessel Cumberland in 1861? RG9/4480/58/15.

This record may be of relevance, despite the middle name and the reference to a birthplace of Lambeth, in that the birthdate of 19 Jan 1835 precisely matches that on the baptism record for your Francis Hosier Hart: http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/SearchUI/Details?uri=D7545286

What was Francis's occupation when he married later in 1861? (Edit - I see he was a gardener).

Thanks everyone.

avm228, you raise a really good lead - I'll have to follow that one up. Maybe he was known later in life by a different name or he emigrated.
