John Crees

I am having difficulty tracing my 3 x great grandfather, John Crees, born around 1784 (husband of Sidwell Doidge).  Does anyone have any information that might help?  Can anyone tell me if Morrice Street Weslian Chapel (Devonport) is still open and how can I contact anyone there about church records?[/font][/size][/size]

Do you have a tree on Ancestry? If not, it might be worth having a look at the one that is there. Be careful though, you need to check the information for yourself.

I've found him on the 1841 census with his wife and daughter Susannah born 1834.  The family are living in Church Street, Stoke Damerel.

His occupation is given as sawyer.  Birthplace Devon.

Looks like John died in 1849

GRO Reference: 1849  D Quarter in HONITON  Volume 10  Page 101

He was buried at Stoke Damerel on 27 December 1849.  The image says that he was living at 12 Tavistock Street and died on the 21st December.

John and Sidwell had a son Charles John Crees born 5 March 1827 and baptised 2 April 1827 at Morrice Street, Wesleyan, Devonport.

Just found another one Mary Jane born 17 September 1829, baptised 5 October 1829 same place as Charles.
