Marriage from FreeBMD
Louisa Catherine SHENTALL Dec 1872, Rotherham, 9c 822
Thomas HAWLEY on same page

1891, Louisa has a 'Thewtall' visitor - should read Shentall perhaps. I wonder where Calvert was in 1891?'

Other than pure bafflement? Not really Heywood!
I cant put the details up right now as I dont have them to hand & writing this via my mobile, but I have now discovered an additional child, Alice Heyworth b.1903 has been thrown into the mix with parentage I dispute!
Will fill in detail tomorrow
Regards, Jason

There is an Alice Heyworth born 1904 with mother Walker. (June quarter according to Free BMD)
William and Sarah Ann married in December quarter 1903.
What is there to dispute?

As I said before, it does look as though Sarah Ann is the daughter of Louisa Hawley and probably Calvert Walker.

Hi
The dispute arises in that alice goes to live with her grandmother, Williams mother, in Rochdale (see 1911 census)  where she is baptised. However her baptism record states her mother is Mary Hannah not Sarah Ann!
There is my confusion

That could be just an error - the two names sound similar. What does her birth certificate say?
Was she brought up by grandparents or just visiting on census night?
My great grandparents first child was raised by her grandparents. Looking at their ages, the date of their marriage followed quickly by her birth, I can understand why.
By the way, Sarah Heyworth is a witness at the marriage of Amy Walker, daughter of Calvert Walker.

Yes Heywood I was working along the idea it was an error. Deliberate or otherwise! I know she wasn't brought up with my Grandad, who was a sibling. She was the only sibling he never mentioned, it would appear we have discovered why. Also his sister Mary & her children had no knowledge of her either from talking to them recently.
So many 'if only' stories within family history.
Kind regards, Jason
