Hi KA

You probably know this but just in case you don't

The Sainty's were a renown Shipbuilders at Wivenhoe in the earlier part of the 19th century. Philip Sainty retired in 1832 and went bankrupt, the family in the form of the menfolk still carried on the tradition/trade of ship building or going to see.....Brightlingsea.......Wivenhoe.......to Colchester by River are all featured with the advent of a new Railway line to London and all featured in the success of transporting goods such as Shellfish to London. The more their products sold ..... the more ships were required!

Input SAINTY SHIP BUILDERS in a search engine and have a read which is what I did........due to the fact that nearly every Sainty I looked at was connected to Ship building

Regards
Bryant
Researching names BRYANT (Camberwell), PASTERFIELD (Essex and all), RAY (Holborn/Islington areas back to Brentford), POWELL (Glouc & beyond?)
Fletcher (Glouc into Warwickshie into Lancs?), BUCKLEY (Chatham area), Watson (Chatham area).

Hi again KA
Looks like I found your man in Ipswich in 1841, but guess the Philip married to Sarah is related somehow.
Cheers Jan ;)

Many thanks for all your help.

This family have been my brick wall for the last year, and suddenly a very large hole has been made in the wall.

Grateful thanks.
