1901/1911 census Robert Walker
« on: Wednesday 08 May 13 22:59 BST (UK) »
Looking for my Grandfather Robert Walker on the 1901/1911 Census's please. Have been searching for ages. He was born 14/02/1897, not sure where, possibly Ilford area as that's where he married  Edith Victoria Adelaide Howe in 1919. On his Marriage Certificate his Father (& Witness ) is given as Sydney Walker, living at The Promenade Seven Kings. Have no idea who his Mother was  :-[ Robert was working as a Fuse Engineer at Royal Arsenal at the time of his Marriage. Thanks

Whoops, sorry, I didn't realise  :-[ yes, I believe his occupation reads 'Physical Culturist' - he may have been related to a Circus Family

Looking on freebmd at Robert Walker births in the March qtr 1897 - none were in Essex.  There were 5 entries without middle names - birthplaces as follows:

Lambeth
Lanchester (Durham)
Lancaster - father Robert in 1901
Liverpool - 1901 shows him in the Liverpool Workhouse - no parents
Wandsworth - mother Polly shown as married - no husband

If there was a circus connection - Sydney may have been a body builder/strong man or similar

Thanks, I thought the Census search would be treated as a new one but realise now I've duplicated myself. Sorry  :-[
