Edward Dean b 1838 Ireland and Wife Catherine b 1843 Ireland
« on: Sunday 12 May 13 11:09 BST (UK) »
Edward Dean  shows up with Wife Catherine in Leeds on the 1871 Census- their first child is listed as Bridget - b 1861 Leads
The 1871/1881/1891 census - maintain the fact that Edward and Catherine were born in Ireland.
I have been unable to locate them on the 1861 census ,and have yet to locate a  marriage.
The only marriage I actually came across was in Dundalk in 1865
The marriage of a Edward Dean to Catherine Deery..
I would appreciate any guidance on this please., as to the best way forward.
I have been doing some work on a close  family friends  family tree, and I am afraid he might need to get his wallet out to purchase their daughter  Bridget Deans birth certificate, which should prove useful- she sadly died in 1881 in Leeds.
Kind regards Brian. :)

In Family Search there are two marriages for Edward Dean- one in Enniskillen in 1855. The other was for Edward Deane in Cork in 1860. There are not wives listed but if you have other subscriptions you would find them.
Hope it helps :) Tiki

Hi Brian
Generally with A**** they will list the wife's name or at least the others on the page. This way you will see if there is a Catherine. I have many spelling changes in my family history!

It's very easy to find information online and then start following the wrong family- especially if you only have the groom's name and the bride's Christian name as in this case. Not all pre-registration church records survive and of those that do not all will be found online.

You need to get a birth certificate for one of the children born in England to get Catherine's maiden name and then start searching for the marriage.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Hi Aghadowey
I did think the purchase of Bridget Deans birth Certificate  (b 1861 Leeds )would be the best way forward, as it is not my family- I am afraid money well need to be spent.
I know too well how easy it is to follow the wrong path.
I have been quite lucky with my own research, but it has never involved Ireland, as this tree does.
Are Irish records less abundant ?
I thank you for your considered response ,thanks to Tiki also.
Kindest regards Brian.
