Hi Lilybell,

I know this is not what you were asking for but I have found the family in 1861, although the ages are way out:

RG9/1077
Folio 22 p. 8
Bowers Gifford, Essex
'Cottage'
John Harrow, head, 40, Baker, b. Essex Pitsea
Sarah Jane, wife, 35, b. Essex Tillingham (?)
Hatch, son, 17, b. Essex Pitsea
Susannah, dau, 15, b. do.
Walter, son, 12, b. do.
Henry, son, 8, b. do.
James, son, 5, b. do.
Golden, son, 2, b. do.
William, son, infant, b. Bowers

Hope this is of any use...

Tanja  :)

Call me a typo specialist: The family's name is HarroD, of course.

My previous, 1851 Pitsea, seemed unclear as to relationships.
So I looked at 1841:

1841 Census   Pitsea

Forname   Surname         Age

James     Harrod           40        Baker
Elizabeth Harrod           40
John      Harrod           20        Journeyman
Ann       Harrod            9
Elizabeth Harrod            7
Alfred    Harrod            5
Ester     Harrod            3
Harrison  Harrod            4mo
Ann       Harrod           70        Widow

Still not clear, but 1851 Sarah is perhaps John's wife?

Thank you Tanya for your reply,
yes I do have the 1861 Census information.

Thank you CP for your help also I appreciate both of you taking the time to help me in my search.

Hatch Harrod on these census sheets was my Grt Grandfather
and I am very happy to have found this much information on him.

When you are doing family research from so far away it is thanks to sites such as RootsChat that makes it much easier to track down elusive ancesters. Thanks from Canada.
