Gordon Lodge, Dover
« on: Wednesday 15 May 13 11:50 BST (UK) »
Hi all, Hoping someone can help. I'm trying to find any information about Gordon Lodge in Dover for a friend. It is set in it's own grounds at the top of Vale View Road in Dover. I have the house on the 1890 OS map, but not on the 1870 so assume it was built between those dates. Does anyone have access to the 1871-1911 censuses and could check for the house and occupants between those dates? Actual images of the censuses would be great if possible. Also anyone with access to any other databases which might mention the house would be great. Where would hold further information about the house? Would the local council or library have any information?

FindMyPast allows searches by address.

Might be worth a few credits? ;D

1901 is easier when you have no names to search ... use the 'Govt' 1901 to search the address ... then use your fav' Census Provider to find the District by Eccl Parish (Hougham Christ Church), then trawl thru the 52 pages of the District in question  :P

If you want a census image, due to copyright, it cant be shown here, You need credits or a Sub.

Dover library holds local maps for the area and they also have street directories ( blue books) which list the head of household per house year by year. If you are local you can go and look at these for free. If you are not local let me know and I might be able to get through sometime next week to have a look for you.
