need some kind rootchatter to help with my Robert McKay and maria greenhill,have a marriage for Robert and maria 22nd of dec 1822,and a retirement for Robert from the army in 1862 got this from their daughters Janet McKay wedding reg,it allso states he,s a Chelsea pensioner and says he died 1862,all i have for maria is her birth as 1806 and death 1847 , would love to know more abt Roberts army past and if he had other family father mother ect and maria family if possible many thanks David.

As you know - if Robert died in Scotland in 1862 - his parents names will be shown on his death cert

Have you looked for his death on Scotlands People?

You haven't given any details of his birthyear - but supposing it was about 1800 that would make him 62 when he retired from the Army and also be the same year he died.

* See from some online material that someone has Maria's death details as:  17 Feb 1847, aged 41. Died in Gallowgate of a Bowel Complaint. Funeral was on 18 February 1847. Buried in Common Ground in Mungor? Churchyard.
