Death 1875 / Census 1871
« on: Friday 10 June 05 13:07 BST (UK) »
I have some family notes which say
John Gluyas (born cornwall 1795) died c. 1875 St Helier, Jersey. I don't know when he went to Jersey. His last child (that I know of) was born Cornwall 1831. I can't find the family on 1841 Cornwall census (but the name is very common in Cornwall & he may have left many of the children with other family members).

If anyone could find a death record, or an 1871 Census record, would be much appreciated. His wife died in 1831, so presumably a widower - although he could have remarried.

Many thanks
Trish

Many thanks for replying Mike, the entry looks interesting - I shall study it further. The John I was looking for had a son John born 1824 who may fit the census entry, although if the childrens ages are correct he was rather young to have the first one. It could also be another relative - every brother/sister/cousin etc seemed to have a John!

I should have mentioned that the spelling of the name has some wonderful variations - my grandmother was registered as Glayes, and the census variations are too many to list.

I much appreciate the help

Trish
