Searching Passenger Lists Liverpool to Adelaide 1854/55
« on: Wednesday 22 May 13 07:08 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am desperate to find this family on a passenger list from Liverpool to Adelaide or South Australia either in 1854 or 1855.  The family were living in West Derby Liverpool in 1852 so I assume they sailed from Liverpool?

Here are their details:

James Puplett Born 1817 circa
Lucy Puplett Born 1819
Elizabeth Kate Puplett (or just Kate) Born 1849
Mary Louisa Puplett Born 1852

They settled in Virginia, Adelaide and then moved to Yankalilla
James was a baker, confectioner and Lucy may be shown as a dressmaker or milliner

Many thanks

AuntyGene

Hi there,

Have you tried checking through the resources here at RChat that are listed on the Resources Board for South Australia ?

Here's the link  :)
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,280572.0.html

If that doesn't find the passenger list,  then there's TROVE digitised newspapers, (you have ship's name and arrival year/s  :) so it should be easier to find one of the SA newspapers with some info)
http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/home

and of course there's always the friendly RChatters on the main Aussie Board itself.

AuntyGene,
There is information on BISA - for your 'Puplett' family. It does say they arrived on the 'Duke of Wellington' - as JM has found.
Unfortunately the 'Duke of Wellington' passenger list is not on the Ships List - website.
If you don't have access to  BISA - perhaps some kind person could post it on here for you, as I was unable to make a copy of the entry.

Perhaps if this thread were on the Aussie Board, some of the RChatters there have access to BISA.
