Hi,
I was trying to ignore this last entry. Thank you. I am not looking for charity, just pointing out that the raffle is a really good bet, from the odds point of view.
Of course, I don't mind charitable donations, and gift aid adds another £2.80 for every £10 ......  etc. etc.

Plus, another plug for John Cryer, a great Labour MP (it would be quicker to phone him!), who really needs to come and draw our winning raffle ticket, which I am prophesing will come from either the Hornchurch area, or from the University of Essex, or will be a member of the rootschat mailing fraternity.

  Best
Kevan

Hi Sue,
As posted elsewhere, we had an appalling response as regards monies, never mind. We sold about £250 worth of tickets (£1000 worth of prizes).
We have one last chance in September, as the town centre manager of Romford has given permission to sell tickets in the busy thoroughfare, and more importantly advertise the project.
So, we should be hitting Romford on the 18th September!
The family history side of the Havering Town show was quite interesting, we had three computers and four laptops running at all times, powered by a petrol generator, and initially through a UPS battery supply - which broke down! Fortunate;y we had a back up for this - just a surge protector. It was a great weekend, and lots of good team spirit, and just lacked a few pennies.

The raffle is a running at really good odds now, so feel free to have a flutter. Link for applying for tickets is http://essex1841.com/Kenya2005.htm.

         Prizes are a laptop, Essex 1841 & 1861 census, plus a Marks & Spencers hamper. Tickets are a £1.

We have lots more events planned, too, so we will meet the targets at some stage; just a lot more hard work.
    Best
Kevan
