William Llewellyn

Hi
I'm sorry I think I put this on the wrong forum to start with!

I have been researching my family tree and I'm struggling to find information about William Llewellyn (born circa 1867) in Llangan. I can find him in the census records and he lives as a youngster with his grandmother Martha and then marries a lady called Hannah.
I don't seem to be able to find a birth record for him though (I need this as am struggling to find his mother and father). I have ordered his marriage certificate but no father is mentioned and they are married in a registry office with only witnesses from his wife's side - is this unusual?
One possibility lies with Martha Llewllyn (sometimes spelt Lewellin) who is his grandmother and who he lives with from the age of 3. One of her children is Hannah and she dies age 19 in the same year as William is born. Could it be possible that she was in fact the mother?

Any help with this would be great!

Thanks

Flora

Are you referring to William Llewellyn, aged 3 on the 1871 census at Gardner House,Narberth(ref.
RG10  5507  83  10)?

If so,the relationship described as "grandson" is normally expressed in relation to the head of the household(Stephen Hughes),and he would be the daughter of Martha. There is a baptismal record for William, son of William and Martha,of "Cuckoos Nest",which is where the head of the household,Stephen Hughes is in 1841.

Regards
Roger

Thank you for the help. I didn't realise there were 2 places called Llangan. I'm researching the Llewellyn family from Llangan near Bridgend.
Have found many members of the family but it is still the connection to Williams parents that is tricky!

so you're looking at this family

Martha Llewellin head widow 57 laundress b. Pentyrch
David son 11 b. Llangan

Have you been able to find a baptism for William? Have you eliminated this birth reg?

What about the death cert for Hannah? What is the cause of death?
