"In attendance" on death certificate
« on: Friday 31 May 13 11:39 BST (UK) »
In column 7 , signature, description and residence of informant, does "in attendance" mean that the person was actually there at the death?

eg for a death in Shropshire

Elizabeth Cooper, Sister. In attendance. 49 Catherine Street, Liverpool.

I'm guessing it does mean this, but want to be sure.

Thanks

Mike

No, there is another category called Present At The Death.  In Attendance probably means the person was visiting or attending them regularly during their last illness.

See here for more details:

That's great.  So her sister came down from Liverpool to nurse her, but wasn't actually there when she died.

Many thanks
