In the 1901 census, @ The Green, East Adderbury we have:-

Annie Wilkins 58 Head WIDOW born Northants, Kings Sutton - an Inn Keeper
Edith Lydia Wilkins 18 daur born Northants, Kings Sutton - Barmaid

RG13/Piece 1401 Folio 116 Page 9

and in 1891 in Kings Sutton (with Newbottle), at 1, Whittal Street, we see the husband:-

James Wilkins 51 Head Born Kings Sutton, a Coal Merchant
Annie Wilkins 48 Wife ditto
Edith L Wilkins 8 daur ditto
Albert Lavington 23 Lodger

RG12/Piece 1186 Folio 45 Page 8

Suspect that this is their marriage (searched Northants Dists 1861-1891) - if so there may have been an older child  .... [James shows as unmarried and a Boatman in the 1871 census]

Marriages Jun 1879

Meadows,  Ann     Brackley  3b 16
WILKINS,  James     Brackley  3b 16

The 1881 census may help but so far I cant see Annie - James (shown as Married) was on a Coal Barge called 'Willie' in Cropredy wharf with two younger Wilkins lads (who knows - aged 18 & 21, some sort of relations. - all born Kings Sutton)

Possible marriage

James Wilkins
Apr-May-Jun 1879
Brackley Northamptonshire
Volume Number:    3b
Page Number:    16

Ann Meadows
James Wilkins

If this is the case  in 1881  "Annie" is living with her parents (William 79 and Lydia 73 Meadows both born Northamptonshire) as married (Boatmans wife) at The Square, Kings Norton.

RG11/1532/16/ p 9

Date of marriage would tie in with later birth of their (only possibly) child Edith.

James Wilkins (Boatman) in 1881 is with

George Wilkins    21
William Wilkins    18

all boatmen on a coal barge called "Willie"at Cropredy Wharf, Oxfordshire

RG11/ 1526/75 p 23

It would be worth a hunt to see if James Wilkins was previously married and a widower on his marriage to Annie.

Bedfordshire:     Church, Brooks
Essex (Great Bardfield):   Woolard
Hertfordshire:  Day, Johnson
Kent:   Church, Bristow, Day, Pharo, Oliver, Green
London:   Brinsley, Gillbe, Dawson, Gash

Excellent - combine our earlier posts and its 100% back to 1871 !   ;)

Added later: I see you've added the 1881 for James - if you check mine earlier, you'll see that he wasnt married in 1871 ...

Haha,  I took so long. Back to 1871.  Not much joy at the mo.  Annie I suspect is under her maiden name (Meadows - if this is the correct one we have)

1871

James - unmarried boatman at home with

James Wilkens    64  former boatman
Sarah Wilkens    62
James Wilkens    31  boatman
Susan Wilkens    28  dressmaker
Edward Wilkens    18  boatman
Mary Meadows    66  I think this is weird.  No relationship given.  I think she should be in the next house judging by the double line under her that usually denotes another household. She is unmarried, born Kings Sutton and a Lacemaker

Wilkins family (wrongly transcribed as Wilkens) living at 9 Church Street, Kings Sutton
Mary Meadows at 10 Church Street, ditto

 RG10; Piece: 1468; Folio: 45; Page: 2

Thanks Lostris   :)  I really DO need to stop ignoring the pink coloured  "whilst you were trying to post message"   ;D ;D ;D
