Pennistone Harriers in the 1800
« on: Wednesday 05 June 13 02:17 BST (UK) »
Wanting to find out information on the sport of Harriers  ( hare hunting with dogs on foot)  It was  a big sport in the 1800 and trying to find out about my GGranfather who used to do this He was a Ben George Barlow, think his son was also involved. I have an old photo of him with all the dogs.......
Does anyone know where i can find information about the sport in the area.

There is a collection of 19th century newspaper articles on the Penistone

  Harriers held by:- www.barnsleyfhs.co.uk

I would contact them and see if they can help.
