Hi Charlotte,

There a a few Amelia Branch living in either London or Essex of approx. the right age, but non who were specifically born in Bethnal Green. Do you know anything else anout her, such as husband, parents or children, or perhaps the area of Essex she might have been in so we can pin the right one down?

Cheers
Wendy

Oh sorry, husband would be William Branch, and I think they were in Essex by then.

Maybe these children with them:
Emma, b 1887 Leyton
Benjamin, b. 1891  "

Thanks!
Charlotte

Hi

Sorry to say i tried all the Branchs in Essex and London, looked up all four names but couldn't find any I could pin down as your family. There were some Branch families born in Bethnel Green but they had different first names, there were also some children with the right names and approx. ages but they were servants  or living with siblings or other people so I couldn't be sure it was them.

Are you sure Amelia and William were still alive? maybe one died and the other remarried?

If you have any more info. other children or dates etc. I don't mind giving it another try, I hate giving up! ;)

cheers
Wendy

RG13 1614 111 4
505 leytonstone Road South Leyton
William J Branch head 51 fishmonger/shopkeeper Bethnal Green
Amelia wife 49 Bethnal Green
William J son 19 stone mason Leytonstone (as were other children)
Benjamin son 10
Emma dau 14
Florence dau 9
Sarah E dau 1

Indexed as Brauch! Not a criticism but if you have census details from another year, it helps to post them in full. When I took a look at the 1891 and saw the children's birthplace was Leytonstone. they were easy to find :)

Hello,
Thanks to all for working on the lookups!

I saw Amelia listed on the 1901 national archives site, and name shows as Branch there, so from that I thought she would be easy enough to find.  My subscription has run out, and I don't really need enough to warrant a new one yet.  Anyway, I gather you're all looking on something else, giving the Brauch spelling, which added an unforeseen challenge!

Thanks for taking the time to look for them; you all managed to figure it out while I was offline!
Thanks,
Charlotte
