Place Of Interment
« on: Saturday 08 June 13 17:21 BST (UK) »
Found a Burial in the Old Parish Registers for Dunfermline, Fife.
Was wondering if anyone could help with the Place of Interment.
Thanks

is it 'new' and then 'ditto' for something written in someone else's entry above?

Can you post what is above it or if there are any more entries like it?

Same idea as Ruth, but I'll post it anyway:

It looks to me like New do. (= ditto). I'm guessing that every entry on the page might say something like New or Existing Lair, or perhaps something like New or Old Burial Ground.

Do the other entries on the page give any clues?

just had a look on scotlandspeople for the original and its a mishmash of Old, New, and what could be either Com or Conv on the rest of the page but the only possible bit for the 'ditto' is 'Ground' on the first entry at the top of the relevant page.

A complete guess - but could it be -

New grave - as in new one dug specifically for this burial
Old grave - as in one reopened for this burial (as in a grave previously dug for two)
Communal - as in communal grave
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex
