If you have access to historical newspapers, check the Portage Daily Register [previously known as the Wisconsin State Register].  It covered events in Columbia and Marquette Counties.  My people first settled in Marquette County, just to the northwest of Cambria, but some of the descendants moved down into Columbia County and all of them did their shopping in Portage, the nearest town of respectable size.  Looking at my newspaper articles, I see that gg-uncle David Ennis was the principal of the school in Cambria in 1875.  Perhaps we'll find a connection by marriage.
