North Leith Address? *** COMPLETED ***
« on: Tuesday 11 June 13 06:45 BST (UK) »
Hi

Sorry about the quality of the image, but I'm curious about the address in Ferry Road, North Leith, Edinburgh on the attached section of a Marriage record from 1869.

Can anyone help?

Regards

Well - it seems to end in field. Looking on the Old Maps site on the 1853 map there is a property to the west of South Fort St (where I used to live many years ago) called Bainfield?? next door to Allenfield.

The 1867-70 Post Office Directory entry for Junction Rd U.P. Church has the minister, Francis Muir at 15 N. Fort St, and Colleague Jas. Deans at Raimesfield, Ferry Rd.  Could that be it?

Hi All,

I agree with Isabel, look at the R in Ferry Road, it is the same R at start of Raimesfield.

Hi all

Apologies for the delay in responding to your replies to my question, but my wife and I have been out all day shopping!

The United Presbyterian minister who conducted the marriage was the Rev. James Deans and, after having another look at the Register and armed with your responses, I reckon it is Raimesfield, Ferry Road.

Thanks to you all for your help.
