Lewis Williams c 1804
« on: Friday 14 June 13 21:45 BST (UK) »
Please can anyone help find out about Lewis Williams? In one census it states he was born in Beaumauris, Anglesey and in another it states he was born in Wrexham. He married Martha, possibly nee Williams in 1829 in Liverpool and lived in Tranmere, Wirral, Cheshire.
I have the middle part of his life but am struggling with his birth (and hence my trail goes cold) and also his death. ???

Hi

I have just replied to your other post re: his death http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,650484.msg4969222.html#msg4969222

Because of the difference in counties and the number of matches for his name on Family Search in Anglesey it may be difficult to pinpoint the right person.  I tried Denbigh, Flintshire and Anglesey.  Nothing in the first 2 but 4 in Anglesey

I would say his death is almost certainly the one given in the Birkenhead District in 1862.On Cheshire BMD he is given as dying the Tranmere Sub-District and is given as being 58 years old when he died.

There are these  possible baptisms that you might consider:

Beaumaris 7 April 1806 (born 1st)  - son of John and Jane

Wrexham area:
Ruabon  7 Oct 1804  - son of John and Elizabeth
Allington  8 June 1806  - son of William and Ann

Do you have the names of his children ?

Please ignore - I read it as William Lewis  :-[

Added -

...However there is this baptism in Llanddaniel Fab which is 6 miles from Beaumaris:

8 Aug 1802 son of Morris and Catherine

I note that he is down as 39 on the 1841 (taken June)  -  HO107/125/9/17/28

Children listed with them- Catherine, Ebenezer, Mary, Daniel,  Benjamin

If he was born after 7 April 1802 (bpt August), he would be 58 in 1861, which he is. The 1851,  as 47,  is the one that appears out.

Added - his death, 18 mths or so after the 1861 census, shows the same age  ::)

The Census that you have noted are the right ones. This would support the possibility that he could be the Lewis Williams baptised in Llanddaniel Fab. What method could I use to prove this? Sorry to ask what may be a basic question but I am relatively new to researching my family tree (and everything I have so far is from the internet)
