Ordering the death certificate and/or contacting the local library to see if they would be willing to do a look-up for an obituary for Martha would be my suggestions.  There is contact information for the Wyoming library here - http://wyomingfreelibrary.com/contact-us/

Thank you all so much for all this information.

I just can not find a birth for Martha W for the surnames that I know. Or a marriage. I will carry on looking and if I find anything will post it.

However the fact that they came back from Darlington to the US in 1906 is significant as the Hewitsons lived around that area  Darlington would be the biggest town only a few miles away.
Also the date 1906 that they were over in England as I know my cousin has a photo of Mary Louisa with his father and she looks about 11 or 12 and that would have been taken around 1906.

Will contact the library.

It is getting very interesting as I think this must be her as they have connections to the north of England.

But how to get that one bit of proof to link them!!

I really appreciate all the help everyone is giving. In fact I am quite overwhelmed. I often use this site and find everyone most helpful and friendly.

Just noticed Martha W ?? and Thomas Johnson must have married in the US as they were married in 1892 and they had both emigrated to the US by then.

According to the censuses Martha entered the US sometime between 1881 and 1884.

I think the marriage could have been in 1890-1891 (married 19 years per the 1910 census)

I have been searching my sources but haven't found anything yet. I did find a report of Tom Johnson handing out cigars in 1893 "it's a girl!"

Maybe. As there are not many female names beginning with 'W'.

I can only think of 3 that may have been around then. Winifred, Wendy and Wilhelmina.

Will have another look at Martha's with the surname W. (Needle in a haystack but may turn up something!!!)
