Where was he born in 1916? Are we talking England and Wales?
Have you got his birth cert?

What else do you know about him - did he marry, when did he die etc

Thanks for your response, he was born in Scotland around the Tain area

You will need to use Scotlands People to lookup his birth and apply for a copy of the certificate.  Birth certs are only available to download up to 1912 

His birth cert will give his parents names and mothers maiden name

If you are looking for info after his birth (ie) marriage /death etc - you will have to use SP

Thomas MacKay Gow was my grandfather. Can I ask what your interest is and do you have any other info on him ie siblings, parents. I am trying to build a family tree.
