The plan will be of great help but I was  looking at your reply I wonder if you miss understood what I had asked Ozranga. It was the letters 2A1C after the deed holders name I was wanting to know about.

Thanks anyway

This map shows the cemetery sections:
https://www.sarsfieldmemorialsliverpool.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Ford-Cemetery-Map.jpg

So AB 52 will be  grave space 52 within Section AB

If I could just ask for another

Richard  Newman buried Ford 24 October 1907 died Wigan in grave 1078

His wife Bridget Newman buried 19 May 1901 in grave 3133 also from  Wigan

As  they are both in separate graves are they public ones?

Ford AB 52
Deedholder Elizabeth Berry 2A1C

There is no explanation on the records of the "2A 1C"
Maybe the cemetery office can explain?
If you find out, please post it so I know for next time
thanks

Found an inquest report and Richard also died in the workhouse at Wigan. Strange though the brother mentions  a family grave so I wonder why he wasn’t buried in there.

Thanks a bunch

Strange in the newspaper inquest report for Richard Newman his brother states that there is a family grave. As stated previously he seems though to have been buried in a public grave at Ford Cemetery . However his brother who told the inquest that there was a family grave which was already prepared for it (Richard). His brother also stated that his ‘Richard’s ‘ religion bury on a Wednesday and Friday, so wanted the body ‘holding’ to arrange a suitable day

Anyone any ideas on this.

Mods please move if going off topic for this thread.

I thought the A could refer to adult and the C to child. Perhaps it could be the available spaces still in the grave? Liverpool RC Diocese should be able to tell you what it means.
