is this the William Hulat (signes Hulliot) who married Ann Knight at Pavenham on 9 Apr 1776? How else did you derive the birth years?

From your other thread you say....re this william and ann, that the Stevington branch all descend from their sons james and francis  and their son Francis was an adult baptism at Stevington in 1825 & James born abt 1787.

Have you any evidence that Francis & James were sons of William & Ann ?

From 1841 & 1851 censuses at Steventon, Francis born 1795 Stevington married to Ann (LORD)- Pallots have their marriage in Steventon in 1812; & James born 1789 Stevington married to Sarah. OK both Francis & James were carpenters, which was William's trade on the 1803 muster list.

Other Anc* trees have Francis as son of Francis (1764) & Elizabeth Knight or John & Mary Brooks; they cannot both be correct, so why would your 3rd choice be right.

John

thankyou for your reply john. yes, there are variations for the parents of francis and james and it is confusing with the families sharing the same names. i have seen some where francis has been mistaken for francis from felmersham who was transported. my research was done pre pc era from the record office. luckily james had a second marriage giving his father's name . that is what i based my proof on. if i am wrong then i will happily accept proof and be grateful. i have to check not copy

i think too many people copy without double checking john and to me thats pointless. i want to hand down my ancestry accurately and if this is where i have to stop due to lack of evidence so be it . kind regards sue

Hello Sue, When & where was James' subsequent marriage ? & who did he marry? James who was married to Sarah from Olney in 1851 was a widower on 1861 census, after wife Sarah was buried on 1 Dec 1860 age 74 at the baptist church & I cannot find him on 1871 census.
