Unfortunately, you would need more information re the Hayes family to be sure of anything.
Irish civil records did not begin until 1845 (non-Catholic marriages) and 1864 for births/Catholic marriages.
http://limerick.rootsireland.ie/  is a pay site but has a free index system. I have had a quick look but nothing so early.
Griffiths Valuation was taken around 1850s. You can read about it here http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/  There are many references re the name John Hayes  :- I see that the names Cornelius and John occur in Doon parish - maybe they were both family names but that could be just coincidence.
If the family were Roman Catholic, there may be something in Church records for their marriages- sometimes the home parish was noted.
I see John was a widower in 1861 - wonder if he married in Ireland or whether his wife was buried in Whitby?  I don't think though that you would get any info there.
