Martha Ann Wright's birthplace
« on: Tuesday 25 June 13 20:19 BST (UK) »
Hi I am the Grt.Grt. Grandson of Martha Ann Wright and I'm trying to find her place of birth & family.

I have traced her in the following Censi. with est. birth in () then the place of birth.

1911 Census London 71 (1840) Gt. Easton, Essex.
1901 Census London 68 (1833) Great Easton, Essex.
1891 Census London 58 (1833) Romford, Essex.
1881 Census London 45 (1836) Dunmow, Essex.
1861 Census London 29 (1832) Ilford, Essex.

She dies in 1915 Lambeth aged 84 (1831)
She married in 1857 to Charles Thomas Jeffery (full) Waltham dau. of John Wright, Clerk.

I've just gone through 'Essex Ancestors' for the parishes of Great Easton & Great Dunmow and the closest I could find was Mary Ann Mead Wright, dau. of John & Sussanh Wright 29 Apr 1839 in Grt. Easton, John was a shopkeeper.

I could not find her in 1871, 1851,1841.
Any thoughts as to where to look next? I have another 20hrs to search the Essex Ancestors Online.

(What an excellent source the Essex Ancestors Online is, wish all counties adopted such an approach)

"She married in 1857 to Charles Thomas Jeffery (full) Waltham dau. of John Wright, Clerk."
I'll check the 1851 entry thank you.

Then of the 1841 possibles, there is one in Haydon with apparent parents John and Susanna, 6 other children
Martha aged 10.
Looking on Familysearch, there is a baptism of Martha Ann Wright 16.5.1831 at a non conformist church Described as Independent, Little Waltham Essex to a John Wright and a Susanna.

I have not located a marriage between them yet

p.s.
Haydon on the maps as Heydon

Thank you for your help Stonechat. ;)

I've found the 41 Census entry, with Martha.
All the children except Martha are baptised at St. John & St. Giles Great Easton.
No marriage for the parents at Grt. Easton.

There is one son missing a George Debden Wright bapt at St. Easton, he seems to be with his grandparents in 1841 a Debden Wright, in Upper Langley. (I'm not sure if these places are close).

I don't seem to be able to see this church on the Essex Ancestors  :'(

Most non conformist churches are not yet on Seax, mostly only the main parish churches.
