Illegible grave marker
« on: Thursday 27 June 13 15:16 BST (UK) »
Can anyone improve the quality of this photo please I think it reads

Sarah
The beloved wife of
Thomas Hannam Esq
of Middlesex Place   ( where he lived)
Who departed this life

That is as far as I could get there should also be the mention of a Mary E Edmonds and a Susan James in that order.

Thanks        Steve
Hannam in London, Nottinghamshire and Sheffield
Collins in Staffordshire
Brackenbury, Gurnell and Willson in Lincolnshire and now Nottinghamshire
Marples in Derbyshire and Yorkshire
Heginbotham in Derbyshire

After playing with the colour a bit on a PC program, I read it as this, although if I can decipher any more I'll get back to you. Hope the date of death I got from it is accurate.  :-\

SARAH
The beloved wife of
Thomas Hannam Esq
of Middlesex Place
. . .
Who departed this life
JULY 14 1840
Aged ___ YEARS.

ALSO SUSAN JAMES

Using your date I have just found her burial date of July 21st. the stone is very worn but I have no means of getting a better photo at the moment.

But the grave is talking about Sarah's date of death, not her husband's (?)

I think you are both right, the top inscription for Sarah reads

Sarah
The beloved wife of Thomas Hannam Esq
of Middlesex Place
Departed this life
July 14th 1840
Aged  ?? years

And then a later inscription using the same format for Thomas Hannam below that of Sarah's

Thomas Hannam Esq
Who departed this life
October 16th 1841
Aged  ?? years

And will probably continue in a similar format for the other two.
Thanks to both of you, any offers on the rest?

Marples in Derbyshire and Yorkshire
