Tracing the family of a New Zealand WW2 Pilot
« on: Sunday 30 June 13 15:35 BST (UK) »
Hello,

On behalf of a friend I am trying to trace the descendants of Pilot Owen Lauden of the New Zealand Air Force who was stationed in England during WW2. We think that he survived the war but died young. He had a sister Rona Lauden who's married name is Wilson.

Their father was J F (Fred) Lauden a famous  photographer from Hamiltion & Tauranga. The 1956 NZ Heath Stamps were designed from a photograph taken from by him of his grand children Graeme & Peter Wilson. This photograph was published in The Auckland Weekly News.

Rona & family were living in Tauranga, New Zealand.

I am eager to make contact with Graeme Wilson &/or Peter Wilson or any relative or friend that would know their whereabouts.

The reason for this is that during WW2 Owen Lauden & his friend Peter Price (who died in action) stayed with my friend's father in Nantwich, Cheshire, England. Owen's father J F (Fred) Lauder corresponded frequently sending letters & photographs etc that my friend now has in his possession & would like to pass on to the family if they can be found.

I would also be interested to hear from the family of Peter Price.

Any suggestions on how to go about this mammoth task would be gratefully received.

Many thanks & best regards,

Jacqui Orton

Might it be LOUDEN?
There is a death here that may match: 1945/39747   Louden   Owen Ernest Dudley   NR

A Cenotaph record here with father John Frederick and mother Elsie: http://www.rootschat.com/links/0v10/

You may get some leads by looking at the death (notice or gravestone) of Owen's parents as to next of kin alive at those times.
1967/41611   Louden   John Frederick   78Y
1970/46932   Louden   Elsie   77Y

The electoral roll may help trace a family too.

We aren't allowed to post details of living people on Rootschat, but we do have a post that may help you, here: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,495373.0.html

Hi, thanks for that, yes it is definately Lauden (a typo on the father's name).  I have tried to click on the links for the death records you have given but doesn't respond. Where did you get the information from?
Thanks, Jac
