On the 13th July Esther Marsland and Nathaniel Smith married at St Mary's Stockport
Nathaniel was son of Samuel and Esther's parents are unknown.

They had at least three children, but I have not tracked the death of either.

Well hello. It seems that this thread has been trotting along quite nicely in my absence.

I have missed almost a whole month of anniversaries and I'm not going to try to catch up with them. I'm just checking in so that I don't forget, in a couple of days, that I do have several BMDs to post. :) :)

Please see also:
Topic: Database: Ancestral Anniversaries ("On this day in ...")
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,652405.0.html

You can now add your anniversaries there, and compare with other entries ...

Enjoy,
Bob

ps. please add any comments about the database on the database topic, and not here on this topic. Thanks :)

Just a reminder, for those back from their holidays ...

Bob

Whichever way I went in seemed to be the same thread

On this day in 1750, Benjamin Milton and Mary Cross (parents of yesterday's Mary Milton) married in Clewer Berks.
Benjamin was from Warfield and Mary was from New Windsor. They had 2 children that I know about. Mary died in 1813 in Warfield. I have not found Benjamin#s burial in Windsor or Warfield

Hmm, can I just ask a question. I only post my anniversaries on this thread, am I correct in thinking they will now be lifted onto this other site whether I choose to subscribe or not ?

On 15th July 1880 my 3xG grandfather George Wardlaw died in Motherwell poorhouse. What he was doing there, I don't know. He hadn't applied for poor relief so I can only surmise he was in the hospital wing. He is described as a pedlar, though he had been a postman and before that a shoemaker. His wife Agnes died young as did one of his three sons. His only daughter died giving birth to her first child. I feel for George, I really do.

On 12th July 1748 my 5xG grandparents John Wallace and Agnes Bishop married in Ratho. Their daughter Agnes was the mother of the above George.

The "other site" (I am assuming you all mean the database) is purely optional. I entered the details from the November topic just so I had some test data.

I don't intend to enter data from any other "On this day in ..." topics: your choice, I'll leave that up to you :)

Missed on on 14th
Christopher Hall Leah born 14th July 1826 in Werneth, and baptised two days later at Hyde Presbyterian Chapel

He married Hannah Wood in 1847 in Cheadle
Christopher was at various stages a weaver, hostler and labourer and domestic servant
He and Hannah had two children

By 1881 he had apparently left Hannah to work in Hadfield
However he died in Stockport Workhouse in 1896, though someone paid for him to have a proper burial at Godley

My great great grandfather

One important one while I was away

My parents marrried 11th July 1948, so celebrated 65th anniversary while I was away
When you consider Mum spent 6 years in the WAFs in the war, even more remarkable.

Both still struggling on
