Charles Fluke - how to find his father
« on: Monday 01 July 13 06:24 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find the parents of Charles Fluke (1800-1851) who I believed married  a Jane.
Their children were George (1831-1905), William (1826) Eliza , Joseph (1833) and Charles (1837-1938)
The family lived in Wiltshire.
Can't seem to find Charles' parents anywhere.  Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you

Hi

You have his death as 1851 do you have an exact date.  He is not with Jane in either 1841 or 1851 and the last child Charles was christened in 1837 at North Bradley (parents Charles & Jane).

Jane was a widow in 1851 age 49 bn North Bradley, have you checked North Bradley register for a marriage.

FreeBMD has a death for a Charles FLUKE, Sep qtr 1838, Melksham, 8 231, which could be him, and would fit with last child born 1837. Melksham RD also covers Trowbridge.

Also no sign of Charles in 1841.

Thanks Eyesee,  This would seem to make sense - I think I got the date of death from a Family Tree - so I have no real evidence as yet.   I wonder if there were any conflicts (wars) around this time that Charles might have left for?
I'll keep trying.  Thanks for your help

Hi Rosie,  No, I don't have an exact date. I only got the date from a Family Tree so have no real evidence at this stage.
I'm not sure where to find the North Bradley Marriage register - can you advise.
Am I right in.....the only records back this far are from Church Records?
Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

Hi

Yes you would need Church records to go back this far.

Your local LDS family history centre would be able to order films of the Parish Registers for you to view .  This is the link to their library catalogue showing availability.

I don't know what the Wiltshire records office holds  :-\
