Gadget and Everyone,
Yes, I have done some research on Ancestry, but was never sure I had the right people for a lot of the info. I thought that my great-grandfather came from Holyhead from info found on Ancestry and your information points to that being correct. It was surprising to me to see how early the family came to the U.S. I know my grandfather, Hugh Joel, returned to Wales, but not sure when. How could I find where he and his father lived? (actual addresses). Thank you so much everyone!

Hi Judy  :)

Hugh Joel appeared on the WW1 draft card listing, so was likely bac in the USA at that time.   I've not checked for his father or for the family on the 1911 census. Unfortunately, we can't give info from that census but you could check the family on one of the various 1911 census sites.

I'm not the best person to search for your ancestors today as I've been travelling and am now feeling very  weary. I'll check things tomorrow but Liz or Suz or others may also find info for you in the mean time.

Suz

Thanks Suz - I couldn't get it large enough on my laptop.   I knew it was Rhymney but typed/transcribed it as Rumney because that's what it said - funny that it was written then how it is pronounced  ;D

While we're doing corrections  -  your Bryn Neurig? in Colwyn Bay  in Reply #3  is Bryn Meurig.

Judy - What other addresses do you want?

The location of Bryn Meurig, Gove Park, Colwyn Bay , where they were staying in 1901, is indicated  on this map:

 http://www.rootschat.com/links/0v2e/

I'm not sure which house it would be but that's the street. The Post Code finder doesn't list it as a house name - just numbers!

Added - if you put Bryn Meurig, Colwyn Bay into Google, you'll get a post code.

Good Morning from Ohio, U.S.A.!
Has anyone found any marriage documents for Hugh Joel Morris while he was still in Wales? Have not had any luck with this, but I know he was married once before marrying my grandmother, Gwendolyn. Also at a complete roadblock finding any information on Gwendolyn. I know she was born in Wales, but that's about it. Have found some ship registers that may have been her on her trip to the states, but nothing concrete.
