« on: Monday 01 July 13 20:31 BST (UK) »
Hi all .. I am trying to locate a public house on the census in order to try and find the landlords and possible age of the pub .. I have found it on an 1876 map online which shows it to be PH but cannot find it on the census the pub is called the Five Bells . on a previous post was able to find it in the 1881,91 and 1901 but can not locate it in the 1861 , 71 or the 1911

can anyone help

Hi again, see this is a duplicate post, possibly understand why!

In a search in the post 1901 years number 9 is not shown ie 7/8 then 10 not at 7 though.

In 1861/ 1871 I have searched with the address and the alternatives you gave and could not find it, just when was the pub built?

OK would you agree that possibly the pub was only built c 1875 and my findings re post 1901 could lead to other areas to research, ie possible Trade Directories/Electoral Rolls?

1911 Census

Cannot post details. But if you have access to FindMyPast try address search under "Five Bells Lane".

Casting around searching for the "Five Bells" brought up a 1900 reference to the "Five Bells Cricket and Football Club opposite the Five Bells". So now chasing that (personal interest) - but old maps not helping.
