Albert Cecil moved to Sheffield at some point and remarried after Lottys death. I will have to speak to my Dad.

I think George and Herbert could have been brothers. I do remember my great Aunt telling me that any Duffield that can trace back to Owston Ferry is a relative.

Not sure how well you know that part of the world but it seems they have roots on both sides of the river Trent, Owston Ferry being on the west (Sheffield) side.

Just to confirm the 1911 for Amy should read as Keadby but perhaps she was born in a small village between there and Owston Ferry
birth:   16 August 1906
christening:   20 August 1906   Althorpe, Lincoln, England
parents:   Thomas Duffield, Maud

And Reginald in the 1911 does look to be the 1900 Arthur Reginald in the bmd
Arthur Reginald Duffield
christening:   14 January 1900   Owston, Lincoln, England
parents:   Thomas Duffield, Maud

Still missing a youngster according to that 1911, 4 born and still living in 1911 (but it appears there are only 3 on the census return) plus Thomas in 1915.

Is it George William that is missing, as I believe it was him that passed away between them being taken.

1911 return states 4 children born and living

1901
Arthur Reginald

1911
Reginald
George William
Amy

There are quite a few family groups listed for Owston on familysearch, using those records and freereg births you might be able to pick out a potential missing child or two plus piece together the other family groups.

I know one child died between the census being taken, what I found so awful. Never used familysearch before, giving it a good look now

Hi,

I just came across your post (I don’t even know if you use this anymore) and thought to get in touch.  My grandfather is Harold Duffield, son of Samuel who as far as I know was the son that moved to Sheffield with his wife (also from Owston Ferry). I’m sure my grandad would be able to offer more information if you were looking for anything specific, he’s 100 years old but sharp as pin!

Such a surprise to see this thread!

Best wishes,
Lucia
