Ammer Germany Family History

Hi

Can anyone help or advise where the best site i can research germany family records. I am trying to find birth records and anything prior (parents names and there birth/marriage dates etc) for an Albert Ammer born around about 1940 in Germany... I believe he married in 1961 Australia, to Christine Patricia Hey, i have found 3 census records both living in Victoria Australia 1972, 1977, 1980. Christine P Ammer, living in victoria Aust in 1968 but no Albert. I have no other info?
