Hi all. If anyone has access to the 1878 electoral roll for NSW I would appreciate a lookup for the name JOHN MORROW.
Thanks, Katharine.

Katharine, exactly what are you looking for? A address for where he lived or something along them lines? ???

Have you tried contacting the Boggabri Museum.
They state on their site For those researching family history the local volunteers will be able to help you.

Thanks for reply Giblet.

I only have numbers of blocks of land which were purchased in the 1870s/ 1880s from memory, and still rented out by the family many years later, which is the link to the town. As I said in the other posting, I have no vital records to link them to the town, or any other documents. It is possible he purchased land in Boggabri, but might have lived elsewhere, as I am not finding any references to them. Alternatively, they might have been there for about 10/15 years, but not left much evidence.

Hence why I was interested in the 1878 electoral roll. To see if I can find him living elsewhere, or confirm a Boggabri residency.

One of the blocks did contain a shop. And I know from at least 1890 onwards he was conducting business as a storekeeper in two other northern nsw towns, so I  had assumed the Boggabri shop might have been his own business.

I also mentioned in the other post that I have already been in contact with the Boggabri Museum, and despite them being helpful, they were unable to help me on this one.

Can anyone see a John Morrow in the the NSW Electoral Roll for 1878?

Have you tried the council Katharine, If he owned land some of the old parish maps may have the name on them. The council NEVER throw out the old maps. However some may have been tranferred to the Museum. The other is the Lands dept. They also have all the old records if you have the lot numbers and the DP's. Also old Survey companies in the area they generally have all the old subdivisions in towns.

Hi Katharine :)

The roll you seek is held by the State Library of NSW
http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/state-archives/guides-and-finding-aids/archives-in-brief/archives-in-brief-5#electoral-rolls-after-1863

A few years ago I was member of Internet History Resources group and they have the 1878-9 roll which if you are a member, can view online.

Cheers  :)
