Victor Pickering death
« on: Thursday 11 July 13 23:21 BST (UK) »
Born Victor Carl Pickering 1898 Ontario Canada his death shows in the US SSDI as Feb 1971 with last residence shown as 953 (US Consulate) Canada.
Is there any possible way of finding where he died?

Hi Ed,

http://boards.ancestry.com/topics.researchresources.ssdi/428/mb.ashx

Thanks Sandra.

Have to question family tree info given SSDI shows Feb 1971. Does the SSDI info mean that he died in Canada and death reported to US Consulate? Had a look at OCFA with no luck for burial location.

Yes, there were 7 entries, 3 gave Feb 1971 and the others Nov 1971.
Because it says  SSN issued - Railroad Board (Issued Through) (Before 1951) perhaps he worked in the USA at some stage.

All 6 sons seem to have died Chatham Ontario according to family tree entry. Noticed on the obituary for Edith (Beaubien) (Pickering) Durfy (wife of Melvin Beverley Pickering) she was buried Evergreen Cemetery Blenheim.

Elmer Dean Pickering - Maple Leaf & St Anthony's Cemetery   (Section Chapel Drive 14), Kent County, Ontario.

Barbara Ann Belanger Pickering (wife of Wilfred Glen Pickering) was also buried at Evergreen Cemetery. Blenheim.

To have a Social Security number issued by the Railroad Board, he would have had to work on the railroads in the US in 1937 or later.

There's information about obtaining Railroad Retirement Board records for a fee here:  http://www.rrb.gov/mep/genealogy.asp

The SSDI record indicates that he worked in the USA at some point, as indicated by shellyesq, and was living in Canada when he died.
