Tildesley in Rhosneigr
« on: Sunday 14 July 13 21:06 BST (UK) »
Hi again.
Jeanette Margaret Richards, Born Llanerchymedd, 1854. Married to
Henry Fletcher Tildesley, Born Willenhall, 1858.
They were married 1887 in Edge Hill, Liverpool and moved to Plas Mor, Rhosneigr C 1895. They had 4 children, all born in Liverpool.
   Annie Elizabeth Tildesley, B 1888
George Henry Richards Tildesley, B 1890
   Harold Vivian Tildesley, B 1891
Walter Allen Fletcher Tildesley, B 1893.
I see on the 1911 census that they had the 4 children but, at that date, only 3 were living.
I have details for George and Walter that show that they survived into adulthood but the only details I have for the other two are their dates of birth and baptism.
With limited resources I can't find out which of the children died.
 Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Roger,
Thanks for that. Do you know anything of Annie Elizabeth?

It's not clear but there is an interesting record for Anita Elizabeth Tyldesley who marries George Henry Thomas in Anglesey in 1907.Looking in the 1901 census for this name gives a girl in St Winifredes Bangor who was born in Liverpool 1889.I can't quote the 1911 census but Anita Elizabeth Thomas has the same profile(can be found on FamilySearch)

Roger

It looks as if "Annie" was short for Anita. The family were in Rhosneigr in 1901 and, being wealthy, would have had their daughter in a private school, relatively close-by. Looking at my details for the family, I guessed that something like the loss of their child in 1892 precipitated the move to Anglesey. Henry was the co-founder of Tildesley and Alefounder & Co. Engineers of Liverpool ... he sold his share of the business in 1895 and seems to have retired to Rhosneigr at the age of 37. The Tildesleys are named on the memorial column of Surgeon Owen Elias Owen, J.P, and his wife Annie, (sister of Jeanette) in Llangefni.
I'll see what I can find out about Anita Elizabeth Thomas.
                                                            Thanks for the info.  Peter.

I think George Henry Thomas is at census reference  RG13 3464 7 6 in 1901(Bootle cum Linacre) with his family headed by William Thomas, shipowner, given born Llanalyddiad(sic),Anglesey 1838.

Thanks for info.
George Henry Thomas was the son of William Thomas, (1837-1915), born in Llanrhyddlad. William left Anglesey at the age of 9 and went on to become a Shipowner, (40 ships), landowner, Mayor of Bootle, (twice), High Sheriff of Anglesey, J.P. His will shows that his estate was worth £230,000. He was buried at Llanrhyddlad. I'm hoping that his son George is as well documented.
(With all the money washing around in my family, I still can't understand why I'm so poor!)

Thanks for your input Wilcoxon.
Priscilla Tildesley was the mother of Henry Fletcher Tildesley. She was born in 1831 at Chesterfield and was a schoolteacher. She may have been living with a member of the family at Anglesey. ... she isn't on the 1911 census there but at the date of her death she was a widow. Two of her daughters were living at Llangefni and another son was at Llanbedrgoch so it looks as if the complete family were at Anglesey in 1911. I have a note that Henry Fletcher Tildesley was still at Rhosneigr in 1943 ... buying Ivy Cottage, Rhosneigr.
