Doris Grace's birth was not registered until 1952.  She may have needed a birth certificate for legal reasons and discovered there was no birth registration.  Parents married in 1907 but the first birth registered was David Lance in 1911 and Berra Myrtle in 1913.

Hi All,
Thank you for the help you have given me.   I had a massive crash and lost a lot of my family history and am trying to restore it again.  Also all the little bits and pieces you accumulate went down the drain as well .   I was lucky my nephew had a copy he had taken from me regarding all the families as I would be in a right mess!
I think Doris Grace will remain a mystery though it is a wonder she didn't have to produce a birth certificate for her marriage to Henry Menkens isn't it?  Perhaps she wanted to remarry in 1952 and then found out she hadn't been registered.  Though again I have a registration for her for 1912 (C11854/1912)!  Perhaps I have the wrong person.   It looks like the reference to her in the paper in 1939 seems to be the last bit of information about her!
David Bennett Fidler's parents were my Gt grandparents and David's children grandparents.  I know when Sophia Fidler died there was a notice in the newspapers trying to find he and his brother Henry James Fidler who both moved to Queensland from Victoria, though I don't know if they contacted their siblings in Victoria regarding this.
Also, thank you for the information on Ronald Henry Fidler (I have some recollection that at one stage he was running a hotel in Queensland).  It's amazing how some things spring to mind isn't it?
I have David Lance marrying Margaret Monica ?, no surname and no date and I think a child (David James Fidler - no birth date) and David Lance died in 1971, also Berra Myrtle Prenzler was alive in 1980 according to the Voters List.
Anyway, thank you for your help and I will leave it open in case anyone contacts me.
Kind regards
Bev

Not necessarily so.  I wasn't asked for my birth certificate when I married.

Perhaps there is an error with the year on the Qld bdm database with the year.

Maybe Doris Grace's mother's death cert. might give something up. It should mention her children and whether they are alive or deceased. At least you'd know if Doris was still alive in 1964 or not.

DORIS' sister was at Mossman in 1939

She was in Mossman in 1939

Mrs. Doris Grace Menkens of Mossman

You would already have this marriage-

1936/C1103
Prenzler   Henry to Fidler Berra Myrtle

An item about the wedding

http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/62971809?searchTerm="prenzler" +fidler&searchLimits=

..."Mr. and Mrs. H. Prenzler's future home will be at Mossman".....

So this is her sister’s wedding 1936 with Dot as attendant.

....."Mr. H. Prenzler, head teacher of the Cassowary State School, returned on   Saturday after a visit to the south....".

Hi All,
Just as an aside.   In the earlier one where I originally asked for help on the 4th May 1911, Dundee told me Doris Grace's birth was 5/7/1907 which was a few months before her parent's marriage.
I also apologise to everyone because I kept saying she was born in 1912 which was my bad eyesight reading the registration as 1912 which I thought was the date instead of 1952.
Other than that .. I don't think I am improving with age, so thank you for the bits and pieces everyone is giving me - some I remember (vaguely) and other parts are completely new to me.
Kind regards
Bev
