my late uncle, Qld, c 1930s: restore please ?

Hi all

The young chap on left hand side is my late uncle, circa 1930s in Dalby, Queensland, Australia.

Scanned at 200dpi from the original, very damaged photo.

I would be enormously grateful if any photo wizards on here might attempt a restoration and tidy up, just of the chap on the left hand side. Not expecting miracles
